Contact Congress Today to Oppose ATC Privatization

“Rep. Bill Shuster may be leaving the House, but the fight over air traffic control reform isn’t over yet.”

– Washington Examiner
Jan. 16, 2018

Thanks to efforts by the entire general aviation community, we have held off attempts by the big airlines to grab control of our nation’s air traffic control (ATC) system, but we must continue making our voices heard. With Congress beginning consideration of an infrastructure package that could include ATC privatization, it is critical for our community to again contact Congress.

Even if you have contacted Congress before, take a few minutes to again make contact today, and let your elected officials know you oppose H.R. 2997 or any legislation that seeks to privatize the ATC system. With a final push for ATC privatization occurring soon, members of Congress need to hear how general aviation access to airports and airspace will be threatened under the plan.

In 2017, highly respected and non-partisan groups reviewed the ATC privatization proposal in H.R. 2997 and found:

ATC privatization would increase the nation’s budget deficit by $100 billion according to the Congressional Budget Office.
Plans to privatize ATC are likely unconstitutional according to the Congressional Research Service.
Privatizing ATC will delay ATC modernization efforts which are delivering significant benefits according to the Government Accountability Office.

Please join the majority of Americans who oppose ATC privatization according to a CNBC poll and over 150 general aviation groups and make your voice heard.

Sincerely,

Ed Bolen
