Dear Members

TBAA is dedicated to improving the Tampa Bay’s local aviation sector as well as giving back to our communities.  As the 2017 year comes to an end, Tampa Bay Aviation Association would like to reflect on some accomplishments made throughout the years.

  • TBAA assisted Habitat for Humanities of Pinellas County by helping a single mother with kids fulfill her dream of owning a home.
  • Educating aviation professionals by holding the annual TBAA Safety Day.
  • TBAA members have helped educate young Boy Scouts to get their aviation merit badge during the annual Planes, Trains and Automobiles event at Plant City Airport.
  • The annual charity golf event has raised funds for local charities. To date, TBAA has raised over $55,000.00.
  • TBAA members hosted the welcome tent at the 2017 AOPA Regional Fly-in at Peter O. Knight Airport.

Being on any Board of Directors is not always easy as it requires time and commitment.  I am pleased to announce we have a full team! These folks have a desire to take the TBAA in to its next seven years!

Jeff Gillquist, Treasurer
Steven E. Santamaria, C.M., ACE, Secretary

Our Safety Day was held on September 28 at Tampa International Airport.  This event provides  the community to come together and learn about different trends and or concerns in the industry.

Topics in this year event included  FBO ground safety presented by Signature Flight Support, Drone safety with Mr. Michael Cummings from American Infrastructure Development, Inc, ADS-B and flight data solutions with Lisa Sanford, Manager,  Flight Data Services, Avionica Inc..

Our keynote speaker was Andrew Lourake Lt. Col USAF (RET).  Andrew spoke about his time in the United States Air Force.  Andrew shared with us the challenges he faced to become the first pilot to successfully return to flight duty after undergoing a leg amputation.  Andrew continues to give back and has helped 9 other amputees' worldwide return to the flight deck.

Have a great holiday

TBAA Holiday Party

This year’s holiday party will be once again held at Cooper’s Hawk Restaurant and Winery on West Boy Scout Boulevard in Tampa. The event will be December 7th from 6:00 – 9:00PM, in the Large Private Party Room. TBAA members and guests are encouraged to bring their spouse, a friend or a coworker. Drinks and hors d’oeurve will be served. Please RSVP

The TBAA has selected the Ronald McDonald House Charites Tampa Bay to be the charity of choice for 2017.

Ronald Mc Donald Houses allow families to call home so they can stay close by their seriously ill hospitalized child at little to no cost. Ronald Mc Donald Houses are built on the simple idea that nothing else should matter when a family is focused on the health of their child.

Instead of toys we are asking our attendees to bring large children picture books and gift cards (Wal-Mart, Target iTunes, Publix, Etc…) for donation to the families of Ronald McDonald House Charites Tampa Bay.

We hope to see you there!

Steven E. Santamaria, C.M., ACE

The TBAA understands the importance of airports within the community.  It is part of TBAA’s mission to foster positive and informative relationships with the local airports.  Receiving information regarding airport community events, construction updates, and safety are key to helping the members make informed decisions when using local airports.  TBAA has added Airport Advisors from both Tampa International Airport and the St. Pete–Clearwater International Airport to the Board, providing members the ability to gain information quickly and accurately.
